Scotland and Netherlands shared the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier trophy after the Dublin final was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Persistent rain at Malahide washed out both the final and the third-place play-off between Ireland and Hong Kong.

The four teams had already sealed their places at next year's World Twenty20 in India along with Afghanistan and Oman.

With no reserve day in place, first prize is shared, while Ireland were third after winning their group.

Scotland had also finished top of their round-robin pool, although one of their two group defeats was against the Dutch.

The Scots defeated Hong Kong by five wickets on Saturday to reach the final.

Scotland will be making their third World Twenty20 appearance in 2016 after missing the last three tournaments.

"It's a dream to go and play a World Cup in India, we will do a lot of preparation and will be raring to go," said captain Preston Mommsen.

"It's a pretty special feeling after a lot of preparation, it means a lot to us. The brand of cricket we played, especially with the bat made a real impact on the tournament.

"At the same time take nothing away from our bowlers, it was an all-round performance from all 15 [squad members]."

The six Associate teams will meet Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in the opening round in India, with two sides progressing to the Super 10 stage.
