Kent struggled in helpful bowling conditions after a delayed start against Gloucestershire at Canterbury.
Only 16 overs were possible after the visitors opted to bowl when play began at 17:00 BST, with Darren Stevens making his 250th appearance for Kent.
Daniel Bell-Drummond was trapped lbw for 22 by left-arm seamer David Payne in the seventh over.
