Pakistan v England: Ben Stokes will not bowl in third Test

England all-rounder Ben Stokes will not bowl again in the third and final Test against Pakistan because of a "collar bone joint injury".

Stokes, 24, left the field on Sunday after landing heavily on his right shoulder when trying to take a catch.

England's regular number six, he batted at 11 on Tuesday as the tourists were bowled out for 306 - a first-innings lead of 72 - in Sharjah.

Stokes made a 10-ball duck but added 10 for the last wicket with Stuart Broad.

Pakistan, who need only draw the match to win the series 1-0, ended the third day on 146-3, a lead of 74.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said Stokes' injury "will be reviewed in 7-10 days once it has had a chance to settle".

Durham's Stokes left the field with his arm in a sling after diving full length in a failed attempt to catch Sarfraz Ahmed at backward square-leg.

Stokes is not part of the England squad for the four one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals that follow the Test series against Pakistan.

If the injury is serious, it may prevent him from being named in the squad for the four Tests in South Africa, the first of which begins on 26 December.
