Joe Root scored by far and away the most international runs for England this year

Joe Root has had a hugely successful year in the colours of England, BBC Sport looks at his 2015 in numbers.

79 Days - Root has spent playing international cricket this year, more than anyone in the world.

191 nights - the result of the above is that Root has spent almost 200 nights away in hotels this year. His favourite hotel? The Lowry in Manchester.

20 - Root has used 20 bats in total in 2015.

2,131 - that's how many runs Joe Root has scored for England, and it's the most by any cricketer in a single year for England. In comparison, Alastair Cook has the second most runs this year with 1,357. Of these runs, 51.7% of Root's runs have come in singles, 48.3% as boundaries. Kevin Pieterson is second on the list with 2,120 (2007) and Paul Collingwood is third with 2,026 (2007).

52 - Those 2,131 runs have come with an average of 52. There have been 232 fours and 17 sixes scored at 23 grounds.

37 - Root has also been busy with the ball as well as the bat, holding 37 catches and taking nine wickets.

5 - His busy year means that he's only had five nights out with his mates in Sheffield this year.

1 - Sadly, all of this cricket means he's only had one home-cooked meal at his Mum's in 2015. It was kung pao chicken.
