Mohammad Nawaz suspended for two months in corruption investigation

Nawaz's ban is effective immediately but he will serve only one month if he cooperates with the Pakistan Cricket Board

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been banned for two months as part of an investigation into corruption in the Twenty20 Pakistan Super League.

Nawaz, 23, failed to report a suspicious approach inviting him to engage in "corrupt conduct".

He will only serve half of the ban if pays a £1,500 fine and co-operates with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

He is the second player to be suspended by the PCB, after Mohammad Irfan was banned for a year in March.

The 7ft 1in seamer twice failed to report approaches by bookmakers linked to spot-fixing.

The PCB has already initiated proceedings against Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Hasan.

Nawaz, who has has played three Tests, nine one-day internationals and five T20 matches for Pakistan, admitted wrongdoing and the ban will begin with immediate effect.
