Paul Franks: Nottinghamshire coach to assist England in Test against South Africa

Nottinghamshire's Paul Franks will join England's coaching staff for the Test match against South Africa at Trent Bridge in July.

The Outlaws' assistant head coach has been asked to assist with the pre-match warm-up at his home ground.

Franks, 38, who played a solitary one-day international, in 2000, described the call as a "pleasant surprise".

"It's a wonderful opportunity to see England's best prepare for a very exciting series," he said.

"It's an opportunity to pick some brains and look at the best players and how they go about their work, because the best coaches learn from the players."

Franks' senior international experience to date is limited to a wicketless nine overs and just four runs with the bat in a defeat by the West Indies, also at Trent Bridge.

But, after a stint in 2015 coaching the United Arab Emirates. he has developed a growing reputation as a coach at Nottinghamshire, and was promoted to become Peter Moores' first-team assistant in November,
