South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir will be Surrey's second overseas player in this summer's T20 Blast competition.
The 40-year-old will join Surrey in time for their opening game against Essex on 19 July, with Australia's Aaron Finch already in the squad.
He has taken more than 300 wickets in T20 cricket and played for Chennai in Sunday's Indian Premier League final.
"Surrey are a massive club and it will be great if I can contribute to helping them win another trophy," he said.
Tahir has previously played county cricket for Derbyshire, Durham, Hampshire, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire.
"Imran is a proven match-winner and with his vast experience of international, county and franchise cricket will be a huge asset to us," director of cricket Alec Stewart told the Surrey website., external
