Surrey have signed Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan and Australia batsman D'Arcy Short for the T20 Blast in 2020.

Shadab, 21, has played 35 T20 internationals and 43 one-dayers for his country and took nine wickets in seven matches at the 2019 World Cup.

Short replaces Aaron Finch as Surrey's overseas batsman for the competition, after hitting 483 runs in 12 innings for Durham in this year's T20 Blast.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 24 limited-overs games for Australia.

Shadab has been vice-captain of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League and also featured in Australia's Big Bash.

"I've been waiting for an opportunity to play county cricket for a long time and T20 at The Oval is a great place to start," he said.

Short, who was signed for £125,000 by Trent Rockets in The Hundred draft last Sunday, said: "I enjoyed my time in the Blast in 2019.

"To have the opportunity to come back in 2020 and play in front of full houses at one of the best grounds in the world is brilliant."

Surrey won the inaugural T20 county competition in 2003, but have not reached the final since 2013, when they lost to Northants Steelbacks.
