Vitality Blast, Gloucestershire v Glamorgan

Glamorgan 150-7 (20 overs) Cooke 51*; Smith 2-31

Gloucestershire 135 (20 overs) Van Buuren 53, Scott 33; Salter 4-20

Glamorgan (2 pts) won by 15 runs

Spinner Andrew Salter claimed a vital 4-20 as Glamorgan beat Gloucestershire by 15 runs in the Vitality Blast at Gloucestershire.

Salter and Prem Sisodiya (1-12 from four overs) caused early damage as Gloucestershire chased 151 to win.

Despite a fighting 53 off 27 balls from Graeme van Buuren, the home side were bowled out for 135 off the last ball.

Glamorgan captain Chris Cooke led the way with 51 not out off just 35 balls in the visitors' 150-7.

Gloucestershire spinners Tom Smith (2-31) and Van Buuren kept the run-rate in check for the middle overs.

Opener Billy Root (29 off 31) and Callum Taylor (23 off 20) were the other main contributors in what looked a moderate Glamorgan total.

But with Glamorgan bowling spin for nine of the first 10 overs, Gloucestershire were reeling at 49-5 at halfway.

George Scott (33) and Van Buuren raised faint hopes, but they had left themselves too much to do.

Glamorgan captain Chris Cooke told BBC Sport Wales:

"It was a team performance, a lot of people contributed. I was happy to get some runs but I thought we bowled really well on quite a slow wicket.

"The thinking (about using spinners) was 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', so we decided to keep it going on a slow wicket. When I was batting it was clear to see their spinners were difficult to get away.

"(Sisodiya and Salter) were brilliant, they should be really proud and let's hope they can continue their performances through the competition.

"The games come thick and fast so if you get on a roll, you really can get points on the board but (Birmingham Bears on Sunday) is another game so we've got to come again."
