A century from Keaton Jennings helped Lancashire build a commanding lead over Yorkshire and ensure they maintain control of the Roses match.
Jennings hit 114, his fourth first-class ton, his first in a Roses match and the 19th of his career as the hosts, 95-1 overnight, closed on 350-6.
They lead by 191 runs with four wickets still in hand as Yorkshire toiled with the ball on the second day.
Luke Wells (60) and Josh Bohannon (47 not out) also impressed with the bat.
England international Jennings' first century of the season included 14 fours in a five-and-a-half hour stay at the crease at Old Trafford.
His 175-run partnership with Wells for the second wicket helped Lancashire back up their strong first-day performance with the ball to take full control in the meeting of Group Three's top two sides.
Jennings eventually departed to Ben Coad when Adam Lyth clung on to a low chance at first slip, the first of three wickets which fell for six runs to leave them 252-4.
But skipper Dane Vilas (35) and Bohannon added 57 for the fifth wicket to take them beyond 300 and a lead approaching 200 by stump, with Luke Wood and Danny Lamb (4 not out) playing support roles.
Jordan Thompson (3-64) was the pick of Yorkshire's bowlers with Coad (2-65) taking the other two wickets to fall during the day.
Lancashire opener Keaton Jennings:
"That was a tough first hour this morning, and Luke Wells played beautifully. But it was really good fun.
"Dom Bess got a couple of balls to the right handers that did bounce and spit, and that's the nature of playing here. Hopefully our guys can hit them and create some panic.
"It's my first Roses hundred, which is good. But it's just really nice to have put the team in a good position.
Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson:
"Horrendous start for us but fair play to them, they've played good cricket throughout and have not let us back in the game. We now find ourselves right up against it.
"Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells showed us, in a sense, how to bat on a good surface. When you get the opportunity, make it count. They didn't score at a particularly quick rate at any stage. They made it hard work for us and ground us down.
"I can't question the lads character. To go at two and a half an over for the first 120 overs is a good effort and a testament to the bowlers. But, at the end of the day, we can't keep expecting the bowlers to pull us out of trouble."
