County Championship: Somerset v Warwickshire - sides discussed venue switch before day one wash-out

Somerset and Warwickshire discussed switching their opening County Championship match of the season to Edgbaston before day one at Taunton was abandoned because of a wet outfield.
Heavy overnight showers left the outfield unplayable, with any hope of play ended at 09:30 BST on Thursday.
Talks were held over moving the match to Birmingham or swapping with the return match on 26 September.
However, Somerset are hopeful play can start on time at 11:00 BST on Friday.
Somerset chief executive Gordon Hollis told BBC Points West the idea of moving the game to Birmingham was not favoured.
"It wasn't something that either club was comfortable in doing," he said.
"Do you sacrifice home advantage? I could understand their position that an exchange would have meant them playing three away matches in their last four which wouldn't have been fair on them."
Persistent rain over the last 24 hours had already dented hopes of a prompt start at Taunton with pools of water on the outfield leaving umpires Alex Wharf and Rob Bailey with little option but to call off play.
Hollis said even though it stopped raining in the early hours of Thursday, the damage had been done.
"We've had the wettest March in 40 years. We had torrential rain yesterday which really killed it.
"The rain over the last month has really just taken an impact, [on] very, very soft ground.
"So the umpires determined this morning there was too much of a risk of injury."
Tom Kohler-Cadmore, South African Sean Dickson and Australia's Cameron Bancroft are set for their Somerset debuts.
Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali, Ex-Durham seamer Chris Rushworth and former Worcestershire all-rounder Ed Barnard are all in line to make their first appearances for the Bears.
