Scotland cricketer Abtaha Maqsood will donate her international match fees to help the people of Gaza, saying playing with a black armband is not enough.

The Middlesex leg spinner played in Scotland's three-game ODI series against Ireland in Spain last week.

The 24-year-old Glaswegian said playing for her country was "an amazing experience" but that "it didn't feel right to take the field this time with the events that are unfolding in Gaza".

"I'm proud to be playing for a country that has publicly condemned this clear act of genocide and has opened its doors for the people of Gaza," Maqsood posted on Instagram., external

"I understand there is a feeling of helplessness going around but we must at least try to be on the right side of history.

"Playing with a black armband to raise awareness was important but not enough.

"That is why I want to pledge my ODI match fees to help provide aid to the people of Gaza and I urge as many people as possible to join me in donating as much as we can towards this cause."
