Stevie Gilmour will lead Scotland as interim head coach for next month's tour to the United Arab Emirates.
Cricket Scotland had announced Gilmour, Moneeb Iqbal and Andy McKay would oversee coaching on the tour while a successor to Shane Burger was sought.
The Scots play four World Cup League 2 fixtures against Canada and UAE followed by three T20 internationals against the hosts.
The governing body says its head coach search is "nearing a fruitful end".
Cricket Scotland head of performance Steve Snell said: "I'm really happy that Stevie will lead the side in the UAE.
"The players haven't played competitively together since last July, and it's really important to have a working knowledge of those within the squad.
"As such, Stevie, in conjunction with Moneeb Iqbal and Andy McKay who worked with the squad in the last series, have been running the training programme ahead of this trip to the UAE."
Burger stepped down a year ago to join English county side Somerset, with Doug Watson taking over as interim coach to guide Scotland through their T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier campaign success.
Richie Berrington will captain Scotland in Dubai.
