Welsh Fire have announced the 19 players they have retained for the 2024 Hundred season, which begins in July.

Among the names are Jonny Bairstow, Tammy Beaumont, Haris Rauf, Georgia Elwiss, Joe Clarke and Hayley Matthews.

The remaining nine sports will be filled at The Hundred's draft, which takes place at The Shard in London on Wednesday, 20 March.

"Our big aim is going further this season and making it all the way," said Fire's women's captain Beaumont.

"We had a great tournament last year, making the Eliminator, so it is exciting we have managed to keep hold of eight of that squad.

"The Hundred is a great tournament to play in and the competition was incredibly tight in 2023."

Beaumont and Tom Abell, captain of Fire's men's team, will lead their team out for the season opener against Oval Invincibles on Sunday, 28 July.

All-rounder David Willey, retained by the men's team, said: "Last year was my first season with the Welsh Fire and I enjoyed my time in Cardiff.

"The management put together a great group of guys who enjoyed playing for each other so I'm delighted to be back again.

"The support for the Welsh Fire grew last year and hopefully that continues this year, make Cardiff a fortress for us."
