The second one-day international between Afghanistan and Ireland on Saturday has been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The pitch at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium was waterlogged because of heavy rain in the United Arab Emirates.

Ireland trail 1-0 in the three-match series after the Afghans won the first ODI contest between the sides by 35 runs at the same venue on Thursday.

The series will conclude when the sides meet on Tuesday.

Before the teams played their white-ball matches, Ireland earned their first men's Test win by taking victory by six wickets inside three days in Abu Dhabi.

The sides will play three T20 matches, starting on 15 March.
