Glamorgan have signed Warwickshire seam bowler Craig Miles on a three-match loan to replace injured Timm van der Gugten.

Miles, 29, is expected to make his debut in the County Championship opener against Middlesex at Lord's on 5 April.

He has taken 344 wickets and was a Gloucestershire regular before moving to Warwickshire in 2019.

Netherlands international Van der Gugten was Glamorgan's leading four-day wicket-taker last season.

However, he will the start of the new season after suffering a calf injury during pre-season training.

Miles could be one of three Glamorgan debutants, with Pakistan seamer Mir Hamza and on-loan Hampshire spinner Mason Crane also likely to feature.

Miles was restricted to three Championship matches for Warwickshire in 2023, as part of the Bears' strong bowling line-up in the first division.

"Timm van der Gugten is a big loss. It's a tough season and we're going to need a good stable of bowlers," said new Glamorgan coach Grant Bradburn.

"Without Timm's experience and ability to bowl a lot of overs, we'll certainly miss him. So the opportunity to bring Craig Miles into the fold (was) something we were very keen to do.

"We will only use the loan market if it's compelling that it will offer us something we haven't got, Craig has experience and potentially a little bit more pace than what we have."

Glamorgan seamer Harry Podmore suffered a suspected broken bone in his hand during the friendly against Cardiff University.

Opening bat Eddie Byrom may also miss the first three matches despite making good progress in his recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

Glamorgan drew 12 of 14 games in Division Two last season.
