Hampshire have appointed former Essex batter Paul Prichard as interim head coach of their women's side following the departure of Charlotte Edwards.
Edwards took the role last November, after a successful stint with Southern Vipers, but left last week to replace Jon Lewis as head coach of England.
Prichard joined the coaching staff at Utilita Bowl in 2022 and worked as batting coach for Vipers, who will effectively now compete as Hampshire in the restructured women's domestic season this summer.
The county are one of eight hosting professional Tier 1 teams in 2025 with the remaining 10 counties providing sides in the second tier of the revamped women's domestic game in 2025.
Prichard, 60, played more than 300 first-class matches for Essex between 1982 and 1991, scoring more than 16,000 runs, and made nearly 7,500 runs in 299 List A matches.
"Having worked alongside Charlotte Edwards for the past four years, and knowing the core values, culture and the cricketing ethos of the club that she put in place, it will be a privilege to continue to build on those," Pritchard said., external
"I very much look forward to continuing my work with a talented squad of players with a good blend of youth and experience alongside an excellent support staff."
Prichard will be in the role until the end of the 2025 season.
