Worcestershire have signed West Indies leg-spinner Hayden Walsh for their upcoming T20 Blast campaign.

The 32-year-old is a replacement for Pakistan spinner Usama Mir, who was unable to obtain the right paperwork for his planned stint at New Road.

Walsh, who has played 39 T20 internationals and 23 ODIs, has come on the recommendation of former West Indies skipper Jason Holder, who was with the Pears for the first five County Championship games of the season.

“Both Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph have said a lot of good things about the club," said Walsh.

“While it’s unfortunate that Usama couldn’t join us, we are confident that Hayden will fit in seamlessly," said Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles. "He comes with a glowing reference from Jason, which speaks volumes."

Worcestershire begin their T20 Blast campaign against Yorkshire at Headingley on Thursday before their first scheduled home game, subject to the weather, against Lancashire on Friday.
