Derbyshire have signed batter Matt Montgomery on a three-year deal from Nottinghamshire.

The 25-year-old will join the Falcons on loan for the One-Day Cup, before making the move a permanent one at the end of the season.

Montgomery, who was born in South Africa, won promotion with Nottinghamshire in 2022 and made his international debut for Germany the following year.

Derbyshire head of cricket Mickey Arthur said: "Matt has chosen to join our project and we're delighted to welcome him to the club.

"He's a batter with real ability in all formats, and he will get the opportunity to show what he can do. His bowling will also be a real asset for us in T20 cricket."
