Essex have signed Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed for the remainder of the season.

Left-armer Ahmed, 27, has represented his country in 11 one-day internationals and 18 T20 matches and was also part of the India A squad that faced England Lions earlier this month.

He has played for a number of Indian Premier League teams, most recently the Chennai Super Kings, and has also played List A and first class matches for Rajasthan.

Essex's director of cricket, Chris Silverwood, said: "As a left-arm seamer, he offers something different and will add a new dynamic to the squad in both the One-Day Cup and the County Championship."

Ahmed will not be available for selection in the T20 Blast.
