Seamer Sonny Baker will join Hampshire when his Somerset contract runs out at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joined Somerset's academy in 2020 and made his first-team debut the following year in the One-Day Cup.

He has since made 11 more appearances for the club, taking 19 wickets, although only one of those matches has been during this campaign in the T20 Blast.

Baker has also represented England's under-19s five times and played for Southern Brave during the 2022 Hundred competition.

Sonny is an exciting talent with the ability to bowl with genuine pace," said Hampshire director of cricket Giles White.

"He will add depth to our bowling group and joins a crop of young players at the club that have the potential to take our teams to the next level."
