South Africa have named Shukri Conrad as their head coach in limited-overs cricket, expanding his role as lead of the Test side.

Conrad had led the national team in red-ball cricket since 2023, leading them to their upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia.

He will now take charge of the Proteas in one-day internationals and T20s, with his contract running through to the 2027 World Cup, which is to be co-hosted by South Africa.

Conrad succeeds limited-overs coach Rob Walter, who resigned in April having taken his side to the last four of the 2023 World Cup and the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

He will work with a selector, who is yet to be appointed, having previously been in sole charge of choosing his squads.

The 58-year-old's first assignment in limited-overs cricket will be a four-match T20 tour of Zimbabwe in July, after which South Africa will travel for white-ball tours of Australia and England.

Prior to that, they face Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord's from 11 June and play a one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo - before the T20 leg of their tour.
