Gloucestershire bowler David Payne has signed a new two-year deal with the club to stay until the end of the 2028 season.

The 34-year-old was Gloucestershire's leading wicket-taker in the 2025 Blast with 17 this season as he reached 150 T20 appearances and surpassed 200 wickets for the club.

Payne, who is the club's longest-serving player, came through the Gloucestershire academy and his new deal will see him continue to play white-ball only cricket, as he has done since 2024.

"His contributions are immense and a player with that expertise and experience would make any county stronger," said head coach Mark Alleyne.

"A consummate professional, it is a privilege to have him leading the Glosters through some more Blast campaigns."

Alongside playing last season, Payne also worked as a fast-bowling coach for Gloucestershire's women's team for the first time.
