Match scorecard

Teenage pace bowler Daniel Hogg took a sensational seven-wicket haul on his first-class Durham debut to help propel Durham to a County Championship Division One innings victory over Nottinghamshire.

Hogg, who already had three second-innings wickets heading into the final day at Chester-le-Street, mopped up the Nottinghamshire tail to finish with 7-66 (and match figures of 8-100) as Durham bowled out the visitors second time around for 285 to win by an innings and 17 runs.

Without Mark Wood, Matty Potts and Ben Stokes, all on England duty, the performance of the 19-year-old, coupled with a maiden first-class century from fellow Durham academy product Ben McKinney, has given home fans a hopeful glimpse of the future.

While Durham's crushing victory consolidates their position in mid-table, Notts were second best throughout and now find themselves in a relegation battle heading into the last four games of the season.

Resuming on 212-6, still 90 behind, the Notts objective was to see out the morning session with rain forecast in the afternoon - but their survival hopes took a dent just 12 minutes into the day's play when Jack Haynes edged Hogg to Scott Borthwick at first slip for 69.

Lyndon James, who made 56 in the first innings, hit Ben Raine for back-to-back fours but Hogg picked up his fifth wicket when Calvin Harrison edged to third slip.

That left the visitors 233-8 but England second Test contender Olly Stone joined James at the crease to frustrate the hosts in a 50-run stand for the ninth wicket.

Hogg then picked up the wicket of Stone, lbw for 29, before the teenager secured victory when Brett Hutton was caught behind by Ollie Robinson.

Durham now head to Taunton to face Somerset on Thursday, when Notts host leaders Surrey.
