Jersey champions Farmers are through to the finals of the European Cricket League after bad weather ended their group's knockout stages.

Rain saw all of Thursday's qualifying rounds in Spain called off, although organisers had hoped to have a final between Farmers and Luxembourg side Walferdange Optimists, who had finished second in the group.

But with a sodden outfield the decision was made to curtail all of Thursday's matches.

Farmers topped their group on Wednesday after winning all four of their games, and now go through to the championship's finals next week with the best record.

One of their wins was over Jersey rivals Old Victorians in a rain-affected game - the loss for OVs saw them finish third in the group stage behind Walferdange Optimists and means last year's runners-up have been eliminated.

The 10-over aside event was meant to be played over two days, but the inclement weather saw teams play five-over matches on Wednesday.
