  1. Bangladesh thrash Pakistan for second World Cup winpublished at 16:50 BST 2 October

That's it from us for today after a comprehensive and famous win for Bangladesh.

We'll be back tomorrow morning when England get their World Cup campaign under way against South Africa - join us from 10:00 BST. Until then, goodbye!

  2. 'Marufa stole the show!'published at 16:30 BST 2 October

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty: "Happy. A good toss to lose because we also wanted to bat.

"With the ball, I just told the girls, we just needed to get early wicket. How Marufa bowled in the powerplay - she stole the show!

"She’s very young but she’s very mature and she knows her role very well. Everyone backed her up very well but she was incredible."

On the chase: "After the first innings, we said we needed to play our natural games and stick to our plan. Jhilik played very well in her debut game and everyone batted around her well.

"We just want to see the same in the next games. Starting with a win gives us momentum we can carry into the rest of the tournament."

  3. 'We need to be calm and believe in ourselves'published at 16:26 BST 2 October

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana: "I think our first couple of overs, we lost wickets so in the next days we will try to bounce back. Hopefully we will.

"We just collapsed early, we’ll try to execute our plans better next time.

"Some of the players, it was their first time playing at a World Cup so there is a lot of pressure on them.

"Everyone is a match-winner but we need to be calm at the crease and believe in ourselves.

"It was a better pitch for the fast bowlers, it was seaming, but it was not a bad wicket for batting, we just didn’t execute our plans."

    Breaking

    Ban 131-3

Just a second Women's World Cup victory for Bangladesh - and it is a thrashing!

Sobhana Mostary cuts the ball away for four more to complete a seven-wicket win with 18.5 overs to spare.

A superb effort from the bowlers then debutant Rubya Haider Jhilik leading the way in the chase, she finishes unbeaten on 54.

  5. Ban 121-3published at 30 overs

    Target 130

    Bangladesh are nearly there now.

Sobhana Mostary has come in and played a couple of lovely shot. Two boundaries in the last over have taken the runs required down to single digits.

A cut for four followed by a glorious drive through the covers.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Rubya Haider Jhilikpublished at 26 overs

    Ban 101-3

Cut away for four and it's a half-century for Rubya Haider Jhilik on debut!

A superb knock from the left-hander, reaching her fifty from 64 balls to take Bangladesh to the brink of victory.

Meanwhile, Pakistan have broken that 62-run stand but it's too little too late for them, according to WinViz.

    Sultana c Diana b Sana 23 (Ban 97-3)

    Smashed straight to mid-wicket!

Pakistan's seamers have managed to slow the scoring rate, they have been pushing for a breakthrough - and, after losing both reviews, they finally get it.

Fatima Sana bangs it in short, Nigar Sultana Joty takes it on and connects quite well with the pull shot but it's too close to Diana Biag at mid-wicket.

Well held but Bangladesh still have 25 overs to score another 33 runs, with seven wickets remaining. This one is surely done and dusted now?

  8. Ban 81-2published at 20 overs

    Target 130

Bangladesh look to have kicked for home.

Captain Nigar Sultana got them moving with a couple more boundary, a reverse sweep following a conventional one, and debutant Rubya Haider Jhilik has followed her lead.

The left-hander opener uses her feet superbly to dangerous left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu, hitting her for three boundaries in the 19th over.

Pakistan went back to Diana Baig in response but Haider has just charged her and hammered the ball over mid-on for four more!

    49 more needed for Bangladesh...

  9. Ban 43-2published at 15 overs

    Target 130

Captain and star batter Nigar Sultana is in at four for Bangladesh.

She's taken her time to get going but suddenly springs into action, skipping down and hitting Sadia Iqbal over mid-on - one bounce for four.

A shot of real class and a statement of intent. Bangladesh need another 87 to win.

    Supta lbw b Shamim 10 (Ban 35-2)

    That's plumb.

Off-spinner Rameen Shamim makes an impact in her first over as she traps Sharmin Akter Supta lbw.

The Bangladesh number three had become rather stuck and is caught on the crease here, neither forward nor back.

Given by the umpire and after a brief chat, no review is taken. Probably wise.

    Pakistan still have hope.

  11. Ban 23-1published at 10 overs

    Target 130

Powerplay done and Pakistan, Diana Baig in particular, have bowled very well.

They have given Bangladesh's batters very little to work with but the batting side have been extremely cautious.

Even chasing a mere 130 in 50 overs, the Tigresses can't just allow the Pakistan attack to settle into their rhythm. At some point they will have to take a few more risks or it could get a whole let more nervy.

  12. Ban 14-1published at 5 overs

    Target 130

An early wicket for Pakistan and they've largely managed to keep it tight.

But Fatima Sana strays a little leg side to end the over and Rubya Haider clips the ball away fine for the first boundary of the innings.

With such a small target to defend, Pakistan can't afford to give away too many freebies likes that.

They're not coming from Diana Baig, who has 1-1 after two overs.

    Fargana lbw b Diana 2 (Ban 7-1)

    Breakthrough for Pakistan!

The seamers have been good with the new ball and now they have their reward.

Diana Baig thuds the ball into Fargana Hoque's front pad and when the umpire gives it not out, they send it upstairs.

Great review, three reds with the ball going on hit leg stump.

  14. Postpublished at 13:54 BST 2 October

If anything summed up Pakistan's innings then it is this dismissal of Nashra Sandhu, who managed to hit her own stumps in trying not to play a shot...

  15. Postpublished at 13:47 BST 2 October

We're ready for the start of the Bangladesh chase and Pakistan need early wickets if they're to have any chance, you feel.

Fatima Sana will bowl the first over with Fargana Hoque and Rubya Haider the openers for Bangladesh.

WinViz seems to have recalibrated during the interval and now has Bangladesh as even heavier favourites than it shortly before they bowled Pakistan out.

  17. Bangladesh need 130 to winpublished at 13:21 BST 2 October

It all started with those two brilliant in-swinging deliveries from Marufa Akter in the first over and Bangladesh never looked back.

With Pakistan reeling, the spinners took over and Nigar Sultana's side will have 50 overs to knock off the 130 runs they need to win.

A superb bowling effort from them but Pakistan's batting left a lot to be desired.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.3 overs

Sadia c Hoque b Shorna 4 (Pak 129 all out)

Three for Shorna Akter and that'll do it. Pakistan are bowled out with 11.3 overs of the innings remaining.

The Pakistan pair had decided they might as well swing the bat but they don't manage to add too many more before Sadia Iqbal balloons one up to mid-on.

A third wicket for Shorna Iqbal, who ends with 3-5, and Bangladesh have got a great opportunity to start this World Cup with a win.

  19. Pak 117-9published at 37 overs

Pakistan are just try to bat the overs at this stage - and they still have a long way to go.

Meanwhile, Shorna Akter wasn't brought into the attack until the 33rd over - the leg-spinner now has figures of 2-0 from three overs.

Despite this collapse, WinViz actually thinks Pakistan's chances have improved since the 25th over which suggests every run from here is going to be valuable.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.2 overs

Nashra hit wicket b Shorna 1 (Pak 115-9)

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Pakistan.

A relatively harmless ball outside off from Shorna Akter and Nashra Sandhu goes deep in her crease, withdrawing her bat at the last moment.

But she's gone so deep that in doing so, she hits middle stump with the toe-end of her bat and dislodges the bails.

Not one she will want to see again in a hurry...
