    Pervaiz c Sultana b Shorna 9 (Pak 113-8)

    Edged and gone!

It doesn't matter who Bangladesh throw the ball to, the wickets just keep coming with Shorna Akter the latest to strike in her first over.

The leg-spinner follows up a more flighted delivery with a quicker, slightly shorter ball wide of off that Natalia Pervaiz tries to cut.

However, she gets a nick and Nigar Sultana takes a good catch stood up to the stumps.

  2. wicket

    Fatima lbw b Fahima 22 (Pak 100-7)

Fatima Sana falls lbw after another tough bat or pad first call for the third umpire.

The Pakistan had brought up the 100 by clubbing the previous ball over the leg side for four but is caught on the crease by Fahima Khatun.

Given on the field it looks plumb. An inside edge is all that could save her ball is very close to bat just as it reaches the pad.

It could not be closer, really, but the third umpire decides there is no conclusive evidence to say it hit bat first so, with it going on to hit middle, the on-field call stands.

  3. wicket

    Aliya c Marufa b Nishi 13 (Pak 91-6)

Just as Pakistan seemed to be settling in...

Aliya Riaz has tried to hold back and shun her attacking instincts given the situation but eventually the temptation becomes too much.

Flighted by Nishita Akter Nishi and Aliya skips down and tries to hit back over the bowler's head.

But she isn't quite to the pitch of the ball and it skews out towards long off where Marufa Akter comes running in to take a very good catch.

  4. Pak 88-5published at 25 overs

Halfway through the innings and Bangladesh will be delighted.

Pakistan are having to battle to get themselves up to a competitive total.

Captain Fatima Sana has started well, though, playing the shot of the day with a glorious cover drive for four off Marufa Akter.

No swing for the seamer anymore so Bangladesh have quickly reverted to spin.

  5. Pak 67-5published at 20 overs

A wicket maiden followed by a maiden as Bangladesh continue to squeeze.

They've done it brilliantly so far with their spinners and Pakistan have it all to do. They still have 30 overs to put things right but five wickets down down already, the situation is precarious to say the least.

Captain Fatima Sana is there with Aliya Riaz now for Pakistan.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.3 overs

    Nawaz lbw b Rabeya 15 (Pak 67-5)

Bangladesh have a fifth after a good review.

It's superbly bowled by leg-spinner Rabeya Khan, a googly that deceives Sidra Nawaz and hits her on the front pad.

Given not out on the field, Bangladesh send it upstairs and the big question is whether it hits bat or pad first - and it's very tight.

The third umpire - with the help of UltraEdge - decides it brushes pad fractionally before bat and at that point, Nawaz is in trouble.

Impact in line, hitting the wickets and Pakistan are five down.

  7. Pak 52-4published at 15 overs

Bangladesh briefly think they have a fifth wicket as Sidra Nawaz is given out lbw off the bowling of Fahima Khatun.

The umpire took a while to make the original decision but the review doesn't take long at all - there's a big inside edge.

Aliya Riaz is out there with Nawaz as Pakistan try claw their way back into this contest.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.4 overs

    Shamim c & b Nahida 17 (Pak 47-4)

Simplest return catch you'll ever see - Pakistan are in real trouble now!

Tossed up on off stump by Nahida Akter and Rameen Shamim pushes at it but a hint of turn means it comes off the inside half of the ball and loops gently back to the bowler.

It doesn't get tamer than that. Bangladesh won't care a jot, they're in a superb position now.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

    Muneeba c Nishita b Nahida 17 (Pak 44-3)

    Slapped straight to backward point!

Plenty of width from left-arm spinner Nahida Akter, bowling round the wicket to the left-hander Muneeba Ali, and the Pakistan opener goes after it.

There to be hit but she isn't in control and the ball flies to Nishita Akter Nishi. Straightforward catch and Pakistan are in a spot of bother again.

Powerplay over and after those two wickets in the first over, it has been relatively slow progress for Pakistan.

No further scares, though, bar a check for a run out at the non-striker's end after Rameen Shamim hit the ball back into the stumps - a lengthy check proves there was no touch from bowler Nahida Akter, though.

Good job for Muneeba Ali, who definitely did not get back in time.

Shamim has hit a couple of boundaries but after a lack couple of overs, Bangladesh have tighten things up again.

  11. Pak 16-2published at 5 overs

No further wickets but Bangladesh have continued to apply the pressure in the opening overs.

Marufa Akter remains the main threat, she has 2-7 from her first three overs including that huge wicket of Sidra Ameen for her first ODI duck since February 2019.

To put into context just how big a wicket that is, the lowest score Ameen has been dismissed for in her past four innings is 122. The Pakistan left-hander also has scores of 121*, 50* and 37* in that run.

A huge boost for Bangladesh to remove her early but Muneeba Ali is still there for Pakistan and has hit a couple of boundaries off the spin of Nishita Akter Nishi.

    Ameen b Marufa 0 (Pak 2-2)

Two in two for Marufa Akter - and that's the big one!

Sidra Ameen is also gone for a golden duck as she pushes at a ball outside off, not accounting for the swing.

It comes back - perhaps not quite as sharply as the previous ball but enough to take the inside edge onto the stumps.

    Omaima b Marufa 0 (Pak 2-1)

That is a beauty from Marufa Akter - and Omaima Sohail is gone first ball!

Marufa has had the ball hooping from ball one and this comes back sharply, beating the defences of Omaima through the gate and crashing into leg stump.

    Brilliant start for Bangladesh.

Pakistan openers Muneeba Ali and Omaima Sohail are out in the middle, Bangladesh seamer Marufa Akter has the new ball in hand and we're ready to go!

  17. Pakistan win the toss and batpublished at 10:20 BST 2 October

The coin comes down in favour of Pakistan and Fatima Sana decides they want to have first use of this pitch in Colombo.

By all accounts, it's sweltering out there so batting first seems like the smart move.

  18. Good morning!published at 10:16 BST 2 October

It's day three of this Women's World Cup and after wins for the two big favourites - India and Australia - so far, it's time for the chasing pack to show what they can do.

Bangladesh take on Pakistan in Colombo in what should be a very well-matched contest - the last four ODIs between them have resulted in two wins apiece.

So let's get straight to it with news from the toss...
