  1. Play to resume at 13:05 BSTpublished at 12:54 BST

    Play, we'll have play!

The rain has relented and we'll be getting back on in just over 10 minutes.

It'll now be a 46-over match, with one bowler allowed to bowl 10 overs and four others limited to a maximum of nine.

  2. Postpublished at 12:37 BST

Just a tiny, potentially positive update - a few covers are being peeled off in Colombo, presumably so the umpires can complete an inspection.

The line from the governing body is that we'll get our next update at 13:00 BST.

  3. Postpublished at 12:21 BST

Nothing to update you with, I'm afraid.

The covers are still on in Colombo and there's no sign of activity from the umpires.

    Our wait continues...

  4. Postpublished at 11:58 BST

It's not looking great at the moment out in Colombo.

Virtually the whole ground in now covered in blue plastic sheeting - unfortunately a familiar sight at this tournament.

  5. rain stops play

Sidra falls prior to covers coming onpublished at 12.2 overs

    Pak 52-3

Guess what - it's raining in Colombo...

New Zealand snuck in another wicket before the covers came on, with Sidra Amin cutting to Eden Carson at point to gift Lea Tahuhu her second wicket.

She walked off with nine from 16 deliveries, and the two teams followed her as the umpires called on the ground staff.

Hopefully we'll get back on, but this ground hasn't had the greatest record in this tournament...

  6. Pak 39-2published at 10 overs

    Sidra 3, Aliya 6

    Definitely New Zealand's powerplay.

Aliya Riaz gets a four from her third ball, driving to the cover boundary off Jess Kerr, but can't score off Lea Tahuhu's maiden.

Sophie Devine comes on to bowl the last over before the fielders go back, with Pakistan's batters taking four runs from it.

  7. New Zealand remove both Pakistan openerspublished at 7.1 overs

    Pak 30-2

Pakistan are already up against it, with both openers dismissed in the space of four balls.

Lea Tahuhu removed Omaima Sohail lbw in her first over, ending a difficult innings for 28-year-old, who scored three from 15 balls.

Muneeba Ali followed her to the dressing room shortly afterwards, pulling Jess Kerr's delivery to mid-wicket where Suzie Bates took a smart diving catch to her lift.

Having started strongly, Muneeba departs for 22 from 26 balls, with Sidra Amin and Aliya Riaz now at the crease.

  8. Pak 26-0published at 5 overs

A steady start for Pakistan, with Muneeba Ali taking fours off the first and last balls of seamer Rosemary Mair's first over.

Muneeba was then almost dismissed at the other end, with wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze failing to take an edge just above the ground off the bowling of Jess Kerr.

Mair sent down a maiden to Omaima Sohail with her second over, but Muneeba again took her for a couple of boundaries from her third, through backward square and then driving through the covers.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine has triumphed and the toss and her side are going to have a bowl.

We haven't had the best time with rain in Colombo - the forecast doesn't have huge percentage chances of rain, but those are a fair number of lightning symbols...

A BBC Weather forecast for Colombo, showing a low chance of rain for the next six hours, increasing to between 25 and 35% subsequent to that.

    Hello there.

It's New Zealand and Pakistan in World Cup action in Colombo today - the former looking to haul themselves into the knock-out places and the latter seeking a first win after rain denied them a probable victory against England.

    Let's get to it.
