Alice Sharpe has been named in Ireland's women's track cycling team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Belfast cyclist Sharpe, 30, will race in the women's team pursuit alongside Laura Gillespie, Mia Griffin and Kelly Murphy.

Gillespie will compete in the women's maidson alongside Sharpe and the women's omnium.

“It’s really special," said Sharpe as she prepares to make her Olympic debut.

"For it to actually come true, and to be weeks away from going to Paris, is really really special."

Erin Creighton, from Antrim, will travel as a reserve.

The team have been training in Majorca ahead of the Games as there is no velodrome in Ireland.

Olympic track cycling takes place in the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome and runs from 6 August until 11 August.
