Alan Norris was a relieved man after coming through an exciting first-round match against Swedish qualifier Daniel Larsson at the BDO World Championships.

The 2014 runner-up trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before fighting back to win in a deciding set at Lakeside.

"I know Daniel very well and I feel a little disappointed for him," Yeovil-born Norris told BBC Sport.

"Obviously I'm happy to get through. I didn't perform in the first set but I found the groove in the end."

Norris, whose work commitments led to him having a spell living in Sweden, entered the 2015 tournament as one of the favourites to take the Lakeside title.

He has won six BDO ranking titles since losing to Stephen Bunting in last year's final, but Norris says there is plenty of work still to do before he can begin to think about becoming world champion.

"Darts is a funny old game," said Norris, who is the number two seed at Frimley Green.

"You play on the circuit the whole year and I've had a good season, but at Lakeside every match is different. Every game's a final.

"I've got Darryl Fitton in the next round. He's another good mate and another great darts player.

"I've got one win under my belt so onwards and upwards. I need to win four sets tomorrow, and if I can do that before Darryl does, happy days."
