Jonny Clayton produced a commanding display to beat John Henderson 3-1 to reach the PDC World Championship third round.

The number 17 seed and reigning World Cup of Darts champion suffered a third leg setback as the Scotsman won five consecutive legs.

But Clayton recovered to win three legs on the trot and seal the victory.

The Welshman now will face either Joe Cullen or Wayne Jones in the third round after Christmas.

Earlier in the day Clayton's compatriot Nick Kenny won his first World Championship match on his debut at Alexandra Palace.

Kenny beat Dutchman and fellow debutant Derk Telnekes 3-2 to secure his spot in the second round.

The 27-year-old will face another Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena on Wednesday, 23 December.

It was a scrappy encounter between the two debutants, but Kenny held his nerve and won six legs in a row to seal the win.
