Britain's Dimitri Coutya and Piers Gilliver have both claimed Epee gold at the European Wheelchair Fencing Championships in Paris.

Coutya, 26, finished the event with five medals after GB took Epee team bronze on Sunday's final day.

His individual Epee B title was his third in a row and he also won Foil B gold, Sabre B silver and Foil team gold.

Gilliver was part of both team medals and also won Epee A and Sabre A titles.

It was his second consecutive European Epee individual honour and was secured after a 15-13 success over Ukraine's Oleksii Zakusylov

"Epee has always been my passion" said Gilliver, 29, who won gold with the weapon at the Tokyo Paralympics.

"Something that really suits me I think, something that I've really enjoyed and the title that means the most to me."

Coutya's Epee title came courtesy of a 15-13 victory over Andrei Pranevich from Belarus, competing as a neutral Paralympic athlete.

The British pair combined with Oliver Lam-Watson and Joshua Waddell for both team events and although they beat Italy 45-28 in the Foil final, they were defeated 45-43 by Ukraine in the Epee semi-finals but recovered to beat France 45-36 and secure bronze.

There was also a first European medal for Britain's Gemma Collis who was runner-up in the women's Epee A.

Collis was edged out 15-14 by Ukraine's Yevheniia Breus who lifted her maiden European title.
