Boccia players Will Arnott and Sally Kidson have secured places for Great Britain in the BC3 events at the Paris Paralympics.

The duo needed to finish in the medals in the pairs event at the European qualifying tournament in Portugal.

After beating Poland 5-4 on Tuesday to reach the final, they defeated Japan 4-2 in Wednesday's decider.

Arnott, 25, and Kidson, 19, are now in line to make their Games debut later this summer.

The pair opened their campaign in Portugal with a 7-0 loss to Greece and a narrow 4-3 defeat to Peru, but they recovered to beat the hosts 4-1 and Singapore 4-1 to reach the semi-finals.

"We're so happy to have been able to qualify the spot for the BC3 pair and now are waiting for the results of selection for Paris," said Kidson.

"We had a difficult start to the week but we are so happy we managed to turn it around in the way that we did."

Stephen McGuire and Fiona Muirhead failed to advance to the medal matches in the BC4 pairs event after only winning one of their four pool matches.
