Ipswich Town winger Lee Martin will serve a three-match ban for his red card against Bristol City on Saturday.

The club had feared the 24-year-old would receive an extra game on top of the suspension following the tackle on City's Kalifa Cisse.

It means Martin will miss Thursday's derby against Norwich City as well as clashes with Swansea and Preston.

Since returning from a loan spell at Charlton, external the midfielder has featured regularly under boss Paul Jewell.

After the 1-0 win over the Robins, Jewell said: "Tackling is not Lee's strength but if it was a red card it was mistimed rather than malicious because Lee is not like that."

Town are also assessing the condition of midfielder Grant Leadbitter for the visit of the Canaries.

Leadbitter received treatment for seven minutes on the Ashton Gate pitch after a collision of heads with Damion Stewart.

He has received a precautionary CT scan, which the club say has shown "satisfactory" results.
