Jake Robinson expresses loyalty to his adopted club

Robinson has scored both for and against Torquay this season

Torquay striker Jake Robinson has said his loyalty is firmly with the Gulls ahead of their play-off clash with his parent club Shrewsbury.

The 24-year-old, who joined Torquay on loan in January, scored twice against the Shrews in March.

Robinson told BBC Devon: "I'm 100% committed to getting Torquay into the final of the play-offs.

"We've shown against Shrewsbury this season that we can outplay them so we're certainly looking to win."

He added: "We're not going to go out there playing for a draw and I want to be playing at Old Trafford in a yellow shirt come 28 May."

Prior to his Devon move, Robinson had scored against the Gulls for Shrewsbury when the sides met last October.

"It's a strange situation," Robinson mused. "I've scored for Shrewsbury against Torquay, and for Torquay against Shrewsbury this season.

"The match at Plainmoor was completely different to any other I've played this season."

"I didn't really go into the game thinking I had anything to prove to Shrewsbury but I obviously wanted to do my best."

The first leg of the play-off semi-finals will be held at Plainmoor on Saturday, with the return scheduled for Friday 20 May.
