Gillespie, White and Bond sign Colchester United deals

Colchester United have handed new contracts to Steven Gillespie, John White and Andy Bond.

Striker Gillespie, who netted nine times this season, and 25-year-old defender White have agreed terms on two-year deals.

Midfielder Bond, 25, who has a year remaining on his current contract, will now stay until 2014.

"I was looking forward to getting it done as soon as possible," 25-year-old Gillespie told BBC Essex.

"I was never realy looking elsewhere, obviously my contract was coming up but I'm settled in the area.

"I'd like to score a few more goals at the club and I was happy to put pen to paper."

The former Cheltenham man, who scored all of his goals from January onwards after struggling with injury in the first months of the campaign, is currently recovering from a fractured arm, external.

Bond, a summer arrival from Barrow, external, has gone on to make 46 appearances in his debut season in the Football League.

"To play 40 games is a massive achievement for me," he told the club website, external.

"I have really settled in here and the challenge for me now is to kick on again next season and to try and get another 40 or more games."

And versatile full-back White added: "I would have been gutted if I would have to have left the club, so now I can go on and prepare for a big summer."
