Tranmere Rovers end takeover talks with Club 9 Sports

Tranmere Rovers chairman Peter Johnson has said negotiations over the sale of the club to American investment company Club 9 Sports have ended.

Reports surfaced in February that the Chicago-based firm were interested in taking over at Prenton Park.

But in a club statement, Johnson said: "I'd like to thank Club 9 Sports for their interest in Tranmere Rovers but we have been unable to reach agreement.

"As chairman of the club I am looking forward to the forthcoming season."
