Notts County sign Algerian midfielder Hamza Bencherif

Notts County have completed the signing of former Nottingham Forest midfielder Hamza Bencherif.

The 23-year-old Algerian has agreed a two-year contract at Meadow Lane to become manager Martin Allen's fifth signing of the summer.

Allen told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's good in the air, he can pass the ball, he gets a few goals and is athletic.

"He's still got something to prove and this is an opportunity for him to go forward in his career."

Bencherif scored 16 goals during the past two seasons at Macclesfield, but rejected the offer of a new contract at the Moss Rose.
