Walsall agree deal for striker Ryan Jarvis

Jarvis spent a loan spell with Northampton last season

Walsall have made their third signing of the summer with the arrival of former Norwich City striker Ryan Jarvis on a one-year deal.

Jarvis, 24, began his career at Carrow Road where he helped the club get to the Premier League in 2004.

He also played at Colchester and Notts County before working with Saddlers' boss Dean Smith at Leyton Orient.

"I'm very happy to be here. I've worked with Dean before so it's good to join up with him again," Jarvis said.

Jarvis was also capped at England Under-19 level and scored his first top-flight goal against Liverpool in 2005.

"I just want to be playing regular football again. Last year wasn't a good one for me, so I just want to get myself into the team and help us push on to where the manager wants us to be," he said.

"I've played a lot of football at League One level over the years, so hopefully I can put my experience to good use here."

Jarvis became Norwich's youngest-ever player when he appeared for them at Walsall in April 2003, aged 16 years and 282 days.

He joins Mat Sadler and Kevan Hurst as new recruits at The Banks's Stadium.
