Julian Bennett completes Sheffield Wednesday switch

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Nottingham Forest full-back Julian Bennett after his contract expired at the City Ground.

The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal, and joins defender Rob Jones and midfielder David Prutton, external as new arrivals at Hillsborough this summer.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge," Bennett told the club website, external.

"When a club like Wednesday shows interest, it doesn't take too much thinking about."

Bennett added: "I'm a hard-working player who gives 100% every game and I'm ready to get stuck into my football at Sheffield Wednesday."

Nottingham-born Bennett started out at Forest as an academy player but made his professional breakthrough at Walsall, where he made 56 appearances.

His form with the Saddlers earned him a return to his home-town club in January 2006, where he played 106 games, either side of a five-month loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.
