Rice is set to start his second spell with Torquay

Torquay United have moved to re-sign their former goalkeeper Martin Rice from Truro City.

The 25-year-old left Plainmoor to join Truro in 2009, initially on loan, external.

But Gulls boss Martin Ling has brought in the former Exeter man to act as cover for first-choice shot-stopper Bobby Olejnik.

"I heard about Martin having an agreement with Truro that if a League club came in for him, he was allowed to leave," Ling told the club website, external.

"I felt it was an opportunity we couldn't miss because he's got experience, he's local, done the job before and fits the remit of a second-choice goalkeeper."

Rice started his career at Exeter, where he played 59 games, before joining Torquay in June 2007, external, but dropped into the non-league two years later having featured 14 times.
