Norwich agree loan deal for Tottenham's Kyle Naughton

Naughton, who spent last season at Leicester, has also represented England Under-21s

Norwich City have reached an agreement to take Tottenham right-back Kyle Naughton on loan for the season.

The 22-year-old spent last season at Leicester on a similar deal and scored five goals in 36 appearances.

Naughton signed for Spurs from Sheffield United in July 2009, but has made only four appearances for the White Hart Lane side since.

"He's a quality player who will come in and give the current group a hand," said Canaries boss Paul Lambert.

Naughton's performances on loan at the Walkers Stadium in the Championship last season earned him a place in the Professional Footballers' Association divisional team of the year - an accolade he also received two years previously.

He will provide competition for right-back Russell Martin, who played every minute of last season for the Canaries.

Naughton is Lambert's seventh recruit of the summer - following the likes of midfielder Bradley Johnson - and the manager says he cannot foresee any more arrivals at Carrow Road.

"We said we were looking for six or seven lads to come in and lend a hand in various positions and it's pleasing we have managed to do that," he added.

"Kyle will come in and join his new team-mates on Monday and the whole group can then work together on continuing our pre-season preparations."
