Guernsey FC striker Ross Allen says he is trying to focus on the entire season, and not just his side's first ever Combined Counties League match.
Guernsey host Knaphill in the first ever English league game to be played on Channel Island soil on Saturday.
"It's a long season so we don't have to win every game," he told BBC Guernsey.
"We want to get off to a flying start and a big part of it is getting the points on the board and also to get the crowd behind us and get some goals."
The island side lost 3-1 away at Combined Counties League Premier side Horley Town in their final pre-season game last week, an experience which Allen felt helped his side.
"To play Hawley who are in the league above and get a taste for the kind of level we're going into has been a really good learning curve for us," he said.
"I'm really excited - I think all the boys can't wait to get going."
