Blue Square Bet Premier side Darlington have signed Oxford United right-back Ben Purkiss on a one-month loan deal.

Purkiss, 27, will provide cover for the injured Paul Arnison, and is lined up to figure in the Quakers' friendly with Harrogate Town on Saturday.

The former York City defender joined the U's in May 2010, and made 26 appearances for the club last season.

He started out at Sheffield United, and played for Gainsborough before the switch to York in August 2007.
