Defender Nick Wood signs loan deal at Mansfield Town

Centre-half Nick Wood has signed a one-month loan deal with Mansfield Town after impressing during pre-season.

The 20-year-old is in line to make his debut for the injury-hit Stags in Saturday's opening Blue Square Bet premier game against Bath City.

Manager Paul Cox has a host of injuries - mainly at the back, where Rhys Day, John Thompson and Ritchie Sutton are ruled out and Joe Kendrick is banned.

Wood was with Tranmere Rovers last season but left the club in the summer.
