Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire insists his side are undaunted by the prospect of their debut season in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Saturday's trip to Darlington will be the first time they have played in non-league's top flight in their history.

Devonshire told BBC Essex, external: "You can't not be ready, when you get promoted, you've got to take it and push on.

"Its going to be an adventure whatever happens this season, we're really looking forward to it."

Devonshire, who took over from Rod Stringer in May, has kept faith with the majority of last season's squad.

He added: "The boys, I wanted to stay, because they won the league last year. I thought it would be fair for them to be given a chance."

"We'll see how we go in the first month, hopefully it's the right decision to keep them altogether."
