Kettering Town's Leon McKenzie expecting play-off push

McKenzie scored ten goals for League Two side Northampton last season
Kettering Town striker Leon McKenzie says their squad can challenge for the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.
The 33-year-old joined Jamie Clapham, Nathan Koo-Boothe, Jon Challinor, Jake Thompson and George Taft in signing for the club over the last month.
McKenzie told BBC Radio Northampton: "We're solid at the back, with good midfielders and hopefully if I play the games, I'll get goals.
"We've got a possibility of making the play-offs. I'm enjoying it here. "
McKenzie hit his first goal for the Poppies in his second appearance, against Gateshead, and he was the top scorer for Northampton Town in 2010/11.
After joining the Cobblers in September last year, injury prevented him from making more than 17 starts and 10 substitute appearances, and he was released by manager Gary Johnson in May, external.
"There's no bitterness - I loved my time there," said McKenzie.
"Everyone knows about my knee situation but I've played a couple of games [for Kettering] on the bounce and it's just about managing it the best I can."
Meanwhile former Ipswich and Birmingham defender Clapham has agreed non-contract terms.
The 35-year-old played 258 matches for the Tractor Boys, which included UEFA Cup ties.
"Jerel Ifil has been the outstanding player in the team, Phil Ifil has played 80 or 90 league games now, and when you add that to Jamie, it gives us a lot of experience at the back," said manager Morell Maison.
"We've made some silly mistakes in the games we've drawn and lost, and I think that's down to the youthfulness of our players."
Koo-Boothe, who was with the Poppies in 2006/07, signed a one-year deal, and Leicester defender Taft arrived on a short-term loan.
Thompson, 22, started his career with Southampton, and will be with the Poppies at least until he goes on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago in September.
Former Real Madrid C player Jaime Navarro, external could make his league debut against York City, after his international clearance came through.
