Reading sign Kaspars Gorkss from Queens Park Rangers

Reading have signed Latvia captain Kaspars Gorkss from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old central defender has signed a three-year contract at the Madejski Stadium.

Gorkss was a member of QPR's promotion-winning side, making 42 appearances in the Championship last season.

He began his career in England with Blackpool in 2007 where he made 50 appearances, scoring six goals before moving to West London in 2008.

Gorkss told the club website, external: "Obviously my goal is to get back to the Premiership again and hopefully I can help Reading achieve that goal."

Chairman Sir John Madejski added: "He has got an incredible track record and you tell just by talking to him that he is very professional and influential."
