West Ham have signed Ivory Coast's Guy Demel from German side Hamburg.

Demel, a French citizen, has been in the Bundesliga for 10 years - spending four seasons with Borussia Dortmund before moving to Hamburg in 2005.

The powerful right-sided international, who can play either in defence or midfield, has joined on a two-year contract with the option of a further year.

The 30-year-old becomes Hammers boss Sam Allardyce's 12th summer signing.
