Midfielder Lucy Staniforth is confident Lincoln Ladies can beat Women's Super League champions Arsenal in their Continental Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The Lady Imps lost twice to Arsenal during the regular season but are on a run of five successive victories.

Staniforth told BBC Lincolnshire: "We couldn't be going into the game in better form. It's a challenge but we'll give it our best shot.

"I think we have the desire and belief in our ability that we can do it."

Staniforth, who scored three goals in the regular season as Lincoln finished fourth in the table, added: "Everyone knows that Arsenal are at the peak of women's football in England.

"We would have had a better chance against Birmingham or Everton but we've drawn Arsenal so we have to stop their strengths and focus on ours.

"As soon as you start to fear a team like that they get the upper hand so we have to give them no time on the ball and no respect."

The match at Borehamwood kicks off at 1400 BST on Sunday, 10 September.
